As the first brand designer on a small, nimble team you will have the unique opportunity to build a style, artifacts and design language that speak to a brand new audience for Square: developers. We’re investing in a massive strategic initiative to enable a market of commerce experiences on top of Square’s powerful and flexible platform. You will be critical as our team reinterprets the Square brand to speak to developers and communicate the value of Square as a platform.

The breadth of this role will span:
Owning the design system and execution for a new and burgeoning subset of Square customers
Designing a dedicated web property directed specifically at developers and larger sellers looking to build with Square’s platform
Collaborating with UI Engineers to deliver delightful, informative, and interactive marketing messaging for digital canvases
Collaborating with the product team to weave the Square Developer visual language through all aspects of the developer experience
Crafting the experience for all Square Developer marketing channels
Work on creative artifacts needed to engage developers and events and conferences
Build an amazing third party developer experience across web products and in native SDKs
Rapidly prototype ideas with engineering and test them quantitatively and qualitatively with customers
Work cross-functionally with our product teams, many other teams, and partner with developers to design and implement Square’s global developer platform
See the big picture to design robust experiences so the team can be brave, move fast, and incrementally create the right experience with lots of feedback along the way
Follow agile practices
Deep experience in fundamental visual and interactive design disciplines and principles
The ability to visualize, own and execute the creation of an experience from initial concept to collaborating with engineers on implementation
The ability to render gorgeous visuals - ranging from content layout to form elements and textures
Proficiency with modern design tools (Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
The ability to communicate interactions rapidly at varying levels of resolution
A keen eye for detail and pixel perfection; no detail is too small or insignificant
Comfortability with an iterative design process that includes accepting and managing feedback and constructive criticism
Experience working with product and engineering to rapidly and iteratively prototype
Innate curiosity and a desire to tackle new challenges on a growing team
You must deeply enjoy creating and shipping products and experiences
3D rendering skills
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, or applicable programming languages

An App Marketplace that helps millions of merchants integrate solutions for their business, and helps developers reach a technology companies building entire businesses on top of the Square Platform
