Job Description

Some history: 
Square recently acquired Zesty, a white glove corporate catering service, to integrate with its food delivery business, Caviar. Through Zesty, we service the top tech companies and deliver food from the healthiest, tastiest, best restaurants around. Our clients love working with us due to best-in-class service, support, and hospitality.  We are looking for a supportive, energetic Restaurant Partnerships Manager to be our first dedicated catering salesperson for restaurants in LA. 
 
Who are we looking for? You will have demonstrated exceptional performance in a sales or account management role and be enthusiastic about the LA restaurant scene.  You’re a natural at building relationships, negotiating and persuading.  Your primary focus will be working with our existing restaurant partners to create new catering menu offerings that fit our strict partnership criteria and support our onboarding, operations and local teams to ensure a successful launch. The role will require emailing, phone calls and face-to-face meetings, typically with a warm introduction from the LA local team.

Qualifications

You will:

  • Be the first Restaurant Partnerships manager in LA who is dedicated to selling catering to our partners; you will help shape what this role becomes
  • Own the success of the white-glove catering business in LA by
    • building strong relationships with managers, owners and chefs at our partner restaurants and caterers
    • being the first point of contact for our culinary partners
    • ensuring culinary partners are meeting Zesty's standards of food and service quality
    • Positioning Zesty as the best way for our partners to grow their business
  • Be LA’s expert on the catering market: gather restaurant feedback, monitor competitor activity, identify marketing opportunities and provide recommendations for improving our service to management
  • Negotiate menu offerings with favorable pricing and terms, to ensure a win-win relationship between Zesty and our culinary partners
  • Own the full sales cycle, including outbound sales activity via email, cold calling and dropping in to restaurants in person
  • Collaborate with the local Hub Manager and the operations team to ensure early client success

You have:

  • 2+ years experience in an account management, sales, or business development role or a similar client-facing role, with demonstrated exceptional performance
  • A track record of ownership, resourcefulness and grit to get things done. You always deliver on goals, and thrive in designing creative solutions to challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to multitask, manage multiple projects, and follow through while paying strict attention to detail
  • Knowledge of, and passion for, the LA restaurant scene
  • Strong relationship-building skills and an ability to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders (Caviar, restaurants, corporate diners) to drive results
  • Advanced negotiation skills and confidence in external negotiations
  • Good general knowledge of food and cooking
  • A creative approach: designing detailed catering menus sounds like fun to you
  • BA / BS degree or higher

Bonus:

  • Experience working at a restaurant
  • Prior experience with SFDC
  • Prior experience of restaurant catering
