Job Description

Square’s Automated Communications team uses data to launch, monitor, analyze, and optimize hundreds of lifecycle marketing campaigns designed to help the millions of entrepreneurs using Square to start, run, and grow their businesses. We aim to incorporate automation, including machine learning, deeply into our tools and processes in order to efficiently grow and retain revenue and product usage for Square’s portfolio of seller-facing products.

 

The Growth Marketing Analyst at Square is a hybrid of traditional roles in strategy & planning, product marketing, and business intelligence. You’ll need to synthesize trends and insights through the vast amount of data captured by Square, and develop actionable strategies that will help grow our Sellers and their engagement with Square’s products. You’ll be expected to collaborate closely with stakeholders across the company, and deliverables will be in the form of driving execution on your strategic recommendations through project management. The successful candidate will possess a passion for innovative analysis, processes that scale, and the wherewithal to develop findings and recommendations that transcend the numbers.

You will:

  • Partner with Square’s product marketing teams to drive the design and implementation of Square’s scaled cross-sell and engagement strategies

  • Develop & deliver marketing performance analyses and program recommendations for marketing and product leaders

  • Support the ongoing analysis of business performance required to inform marketing and product development decisions on a day-to-day basis

  • Design and launch experiments, determine campaign targeting strategies, and develop category-specific KPIs, forecasts, and goals

  • Build dashboards, reports, and alerting systems for the ongoing analysis and monitoring of marketing campaigns, categories, and channels

Qualifications

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience in a variety of strategic, analytical and operational roles: you thrive on combining rigorous data-driven analysis, strong business and marketing intuition and judgment, and an ability to work well across a variety of teams to solve complex problems, and have done so at a fast-growing technology company. You’ve likely held roles in consulting, analytics, growth, bizops, and/or product marketing.

  • Impact Orientation: Strong business acumen, with the ability to translate quantitative data into actionable business insights and recommendations. Ability to communicate complex data concepts and reasoning in ways that product teams, senior management, and the wider organization will understand

  • Data Fluency: Expert quantitative analysis and logical reasoning; 2+ years experience using database languages (e.g. SQL or BigQuery) and visualization tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau) on large data sets to extract trends and insights. Hands-on experience conducting customer segmentation, cohort performance, and product funnel analyses prefered.

  • Ability to Influence: Experience managing cross-functional projects from start to finish and a track record of successfully building working relationships and influencing business partners

  • Efficiency: Excellent organizational and prioritization skills as demonstrated by experience autonomously driving multiple, competing projects under deadline pressure

  • Enthusiasm: you’re passionate about Square’s mission and excited to bring our products to more businesses

 

Even Better:

  • Experience designing and operationalizing data-driven marketing programs

  • Experience working at a rapidly growing technology company, especially one with a SaaS products or in the Fintech space

  • Familiarity with ETLs and data modeling concepts (e.g. star and snowflake schemas)
