In Risk Business Operations at Square, you'll design, build, and operationalize systems and processes to root out high-risk activity across the Square platform of products. We are looking for a Technical Lead to join our Risk Business Operations team, which is directly responsible for the most complex process and analytical work.
The Business Operations Technical Lead will be responsible for leveraging advanced analytical skills and techniques to solve our most crucial business problems. You will serve as the primary interface between the Risk Data Science team and the rest of the Risk organization. You will ensure the machine learning models built by our Data Science team are deployed optimally across our diverse problem set. You will also work independently to identify and analyze major opportunity areas within Risk to optimize existing processes (payment coding, operational casing and automation, workforce scheduling, etc). The ideal candidate has experience with operational projects and possesses exceptional analytical, cross-functional, and communication skills. This role will require a bias toward taking action in a fast-paced environment.
Apply advanced analytical techniques to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness throughout the Risk organization
Work alongside Data Science to evaluate, monitor, and optimize the application of machine learning across various use cases (casing, alerting, automation, etc.)
Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to implement solutions and influence product roadmaps
Advise and mentor analysts throughout Risk with an eye towards upleveling our analytical sophistication
Communicate findings and changes through executive presentations for Squares leadership and board members
Drive innovative risk solutions through third party evaluation and integration with a focus on improving the seller experience and operational efficiency
8+ years of relevant experience
A Masters in a related technical field
Strong analytical skills and problem solving ability
Advanced proficiency with scripting and data analysis programming languages (e.g. Python, R, etc.)
The ability to answer unstructured business questions and work independently to drive projects and analytical tasks to conclusion
A strong passion for Squares mission
Experience using statistics and machine learning to solve complex business problems
Experience in Payments and/or Risk Management
Consulting / project management experience
