Finance & Strategy is responsible for improving strategic and financial decision making across the company. We are looking for an analyst who will work as a member of Squares Finance & Strategy team supporting Cash App. This analyst will play an integral part in Squares success by providing strategic decision support, forecasting, and financial planning & reporting.

Job Responsibilities

The Cash App team is focused on building financial service products for individuals, whether making it easier to send / receive money, make purchases using the Cash Card, receive discounts through Cash Boost, as well as buy / sell Bitcoin. The Cash App has seen tremendous user growth, and along with this growth comes incredible opportunities, and significant challenges for our business. As a key business partner for the Cash App team, you will play a critical role tackling the following responsibilities below:

Strategic Decision Support:

We are the analytic advisor to our business partners. Responsibilities will include analytics initiatives such as financial modeling, customer LTV analysis, product/competitive landscape benchmarking, referral-marketing design/analysis, and other data-driven analysis in support of key business / product decisions.  

Forecasting:

We use data to predict short-term and long-term trends for making strategic decisions. We have intimate knowledge of the data available and actively mine it from our SQL databases. We build models in Excel to understand complex relationships between variables and gain insight.

Financial Planning & Reporting:

We have an intimate understanding of Squares business. We gain this by regularly partnering with business functions (e.g. Finance/Accounting, Business Intelligence, Marketing, Products, International, and others) to analyze and report on the financial impact of decisions across the company. We support our business partners to manage their budgets and ensure they have resource allocations to invest properly behind key initiatives.

Qualifications

You have:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other relevant field

  • 2 to 6 years of relevant industry experience with financial modeling (e.g. investment banking, business valuation, corporate finance, consulting)

  • Proficiency in Excel

  • Basic understanding of the payments and financial services industries

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • A highly analytical and inquisitive work style with a keen attention to detail -- but also ability to see the big picture

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • A strong passion for Squares mission

Even better:

  • Experience with Hyperion, SQL and Data Visualization software (Tableau / Looker) is a plus
