Job Description

Finance & Strategy is responsible for improving strategic, financial and operational decision-making across the company. We are looking for an experienced leader within Squares Corporate Finance & Strategy team who will guide Squares overall financial planning processes and play a critical role informing decisions regarding Squares investments across all products and functions.

You will:

  • Lead Squares annual and quarterly financial planning, including coordinating forecasts and investments across our business

  • Apply an analytical approach to influence strategic decision making, with a focus on capital allocation decisions and long-term financial planning

  • Partner with the Investor Relations and Accounting teams to develop external financial guidance and support the execution of external filings and investor communications

  • Develop metrics to track team-specific and company-wide trends, identify efficiency and/or growth opportunities, clearly communicate recommendations, and collaborate across all levels of the organization

  • Lead company-wide financial related communications with board members and executive team

  • Lead a team of high performing analysts

  • Partner with key organizations across Square to optimize financial planning processes, policies, and the implementation of company-wide initiatives

  • Distill data and create analyses that will facilitate clear and timely decision making; improve visibility and usability of our existing data, and use that data to create measurable goals


You have:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or other relevant field

  • 7 to 12+ years of relevant industry experience with financial modeling, including experience in finance & strategy in a corporate environment

  • Exceptional judgement and maturity, including an ability to execute independently and work with team members of all levels

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional workstreams

  • Excellent proficiency in Excel and understanding of accounting and corporate finance concepts

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Consistent track record of success and career progression

  • Basic understanding of the payments industry and a commitment to Squares mission

Even better:

  • Experience with Hyperion is a plus

  • Experience in tech / high-growth corporate finance is a plus
