Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting and enhancing the Commercial Lending Compliance program by performing and managing the programs regulatory monitoring function for business purpose lending using sound judgment, innovative thinking, and collaborative decision making. These responsibilities include conducting monitoring of the commercial loan program's policies, procedures, advertising/marketing, emails/letters, and customer agreements summarized in detailed reporting provided to business owners. In addition, this position supports the business' compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures by providing meaningful regulatory insight and interpretations. The scope of this role includes but is not limited to customer-protection laws such as ECOA, FCRA, TCPA/TSR, UDAAP, in addition to compliance governance, information security, and vendor management.

You will:

  • Under the direction of the Capital Compliance Officer, implement a compliance monitoring program for commercial lending

  • Conduct reviews and queries of various databases and systems

  • Monitor regulatory compliance on a periodic basis, properly identify gaps in controls and methodologies, and assess remediations proposed by business stakeholders

  • Prepare compliance reports for review by senior management in addition to collecting, analyzing, and storing accurate and verifiable information

  • Support partner relationships with other companies and financial institutions involved in the lending program

  • Communicate complex compliance issues with internal and external stakeholders

  • Coordinate with business units in the development and implementation of processes to minimize compliance risks

  • Monitor commercial complaints for potential compliance matters to ensure proper investigations occurs

  • Consult with corporate attorneys and other Counsel Team personnel as necessary to address complex compliance issues

  • Maintain superior knowledge of applicable commercial lending compliance laws and regulations and proactively identify emerging compliance risks

  • Assist with other special projects as needed

Qualifications

You have:

  • 4-year undergraduate degree (minimum) Bachelor's Degree required

  • 2-3 years of experience required in lending compliance monitoring or audit with a strong understanding in at least one of the following areas: secured loans, unsecured loans, or credit cards

  • Demonstrated abilities in development and implementation of new compliance policies, strategies, and work processes

  • Proven ability to understand legal and regulatory concepts and converting them into relevant, practical business requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Strong ability to build relationships and establish trust and credibility with business partners, financial institution partners, and regulators through collaborative and independent problem solving

  • Experience in conducting database queries and managing multifaceted projects using strong organizational skills
