Square is looking for a seasoned, strategic, creative, and results-oriented Brand and Content Marketing lead. In this role, you will lead a team of brand, social, and content marketing experts working in concert to achieve Square’s brand, segment and product objectives. As a change leader, influencer, and strong brand marketer, you will be responsible for building a strategic vision, setting the agenda and ensuring strength of our plans to deliver both short-term and long-term results. Most importantly, you must model our values and have a passion for developing talent. You will manage a team that runs campaigns that leverage a variety of owned, earned and paid channels including film, digital, editorial, social, web, events and sponsorships. You will partner closely with our creative, brand strategy and channel teams to develop and deliver go-to-market plans tailored to our specific audience segments. You will measure, analyze and optimize campaign performance and bring new and innovative brand GTM tactics into the fold. Your work will span across Square’s entire ecosystem of solutions.
You will lead a team unified by its passion for building what is already one of the most loved brands among small businesses. You will report into the Head of Marketing and serve as a member of the Marketing Leadership team. The ideal candidate for this position will have worked for a developed or emerging brand, having played a role in building brand awareness and customer engagement. They will have managed a variety of marketing programs, including campaign execution from conception to execution to results. This person will have a strong background in social and content marketing with excellent writing skills and an eye for editorial excellence. They will feel comfortable interacting with cross-functional teams and external partners. They will thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment where they’ll help push a talented team to discover untapped opportunities in brand, content and social marketing.
Support evolution of Square’s brand GTM activities and define the charter for brand and content marketing at Square
Analyze and report on the brand competitive landscape.
Develop deep understanding of customer mindsets, attitudes, & behaviors.
Lead the Social, Editorial, and Brand Marketing leads to create integrated strategic plans that shape Square's presence and drive toward brand goals.
Develop, in partnership with the teams, metrics and measurement solutions that demonstrate the impact of the brand, social and content programs
Work with design team to manage production of marketing assets including graphic design, video and web development (no execution, just project management of these materials)
Work cross-functionally with the product, product marketing, brand strategy, creative and other channel marketing managers to build the brand and deepen customer engagement.
Collaborate with country marketing managers to support international brand growth.
Manage budget to maximize effectiveness
15+ years of brand, content and social marketing experience
Significant advertising development experience required
5+ years of demonstrated people leadership and proven track record of coaching & developing world class talent
Track record of delivering results & ability to manage a portfolio/ make strategic choices to maximize impact
Project management, prioritization skills & ability to manage multiple projects at different stages of development
Solid strategic and execution skills, specifically related to content and social marketing
Ability to work independently – high sense of urgency and entrepreneurial spirit
Exceptional project & time management skills
Strong execution, communication & strategic thinking skills, business savvy and an opportunity seeker
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and influence at all levels
Ability to anticipate issues and resolve them based on sound business judgment
