Job Description

In the role of Packaging Manager based in China, you’ll be a member of the Square Hardware team and will partner in production management and quality of our Asia-based packaging programs. As the sole member of the packaging team in China, you are the eyes and ears on the ground to ensure packaging suppliers deliver quality packaging to meet supply commits. You will work cross functionally with packaging program manager, engineering and production manager on all phases of packaging NPI and sustaining production. This role is highly cross-functional, technical, and instrumental to shipping great products.

You will:

  • Work alongside all functions of the packaging team during development to prepare for EVT, DVT, PVT, Ramp and EOL. This includes: factory support & build-readiness preparation

  • Conduct weekly packaging construction line audits.

  • Investigate root cause of quality issues and ensure supplier implementation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high quality materials are available for production schedules

  • Highlight production, quality, and capacity risks and drive resolution with our packaging vendors . You will also organize and host supplier meetings when necessary.

  • Ensure successful transition of changes to packaging materials.

  • Act as the first point of contact for Asia produced packaging items. You will also attend weekly program and executive reviews (when necessary) to provide updates on the current development and implementation status.

Qualifications

You have:

  • a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with consumer electronics packaging, including managing local and international packaging suppliers.

  • experienced in packaging development and production with understanding how quality and production translates to customer impact. You obsess over the customer experience.

  • You’re a critical thinker who leverages your breadth of experience to solve problems.

  • Sees around corners. You are proactive, not reactive. You recognize long-range risks and know how to mitigate them.

  • You’re also an exceptional communicator who can collaborate with a variety of teams, and run effective and productive meetings.

  • Influences others. You have the written and verbal skills to keep the project moving in the right direction.

  • Expert level in Excel and Google suite

  • Has a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.

  • Ability to travel to Packaging partners to support builds on site
