Square Capital is addressing a major pain point for small businesses - how to get the funding needed to run and grow their business. We started by offering Capital to Square sellers and have extended over $4B in funding to over 200,000 sellers in the last 5 years. Sellers cite ease of application, clear terms and fast funding as the reasons they choose Square Capital, and continue to give us industry-leading Net Promoter Scores in the high 70s. We are now building a lending platform that will bring the same experience that Square sellers have come to love to any small business that needs Capital. With nearly 30M small businesses in the US, the opportunity for Square Capital to scale beyond Square sellers is enormous.

Job Description

As a Product Manager on Square Capital, you will be responsible for designing, building, and owning our lending products. You will be focused on helping sellers by understanding and proactively meeting their financing needs for various use cases, by creating simple, transparent and fair financial products that expand access to sellers that need it the most. By collaborating closely with designers, engineers, analysts, and other cross-functional team members within the organization, you will own the end-end development of products that amaze and delight our users. Responsibilities:

  • Build a deep understanding and empathy for our customers

  • Identify market opportunities and competition, build business cases and define product vision and strategy

  • Develop innovative products that uniquely serve the funding needs of small business

  • Manage the entire product life cycle from ideation, to planning and execution

  • Define, document, and communicate objectives, requirements and constraints for product initiatives

  • Inspire your cross-functional peers in order to build a strong partnership in delivering excellent products and services

  • Drive the tactics and delivery timelines for the work required to drive growth

  • Effectively communicate progress on initiatives to stakeholders

  • Hypothesize, measure and learn. Continuously test and leverage insights to inform decisions

  • Represent the team with cross-functional partners and senior company leaders in order to align resources and prioritization

Qualifications

You have:

  • 7+ years of product management experience or equivalent

  • Strong customer empathy and experience shaping product direction based on customer needs

  • A track record of shipping and iterating on successful products at scale, with cross-functional teams

  • Experience shaping and driving key strategies that have shaped the product portfolio of a company or organization

  • Demonstrated leadership, the ability to drive product strategy and build consensus with senior engineers and designers

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to think and communicate creatively, thoughtfully, and with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels

  • Developed, evangelized and tracked metrics to understand the impact of the solutions you create

  • An analytical and metrics driven work style that leverages data to make informed decisions

  • Exceptional organization and prioritization skills

  • Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to continuous improvement with the ability to take an idea and bring it to life with minimal supervision
