Job Description

The Payroll Systems and Tax Manager position is based in Oakland and reports to the Global Payroll Lead. This role is responsible for managing various payroll configurations,  administration of the US Payroll Tax operations, accuracy of the payroll system data to deliver the company's semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls and managing analytics. The role also requires managing global year end activities. This position will also be a key employee resource for payroll matters and will perform other related duties as required.

You will:

  • Manage the delivery of payroll analytics servicing all Payroll reporting requests from various departments or external
  • Manage various payroll files integrations such as Benefits files, commissions files meeting each payroll cycle including HR and Payroll integration
  • Manage the payroll stock processing for US, and Global mobilities including global ESPP election and purchase contributions
  • Manage Payroll tax vendor to assure timely resolution of Tax notices
  • Manage payroll tax filing set up for new locations including registrations
  • Support the Sr Global Payroll Manager with QTR and year-end tax reconciliation up to W-2 balancing
  • Support the Sr Global Payroll Manager with preparing Amended Tax returns and W-2c as needed
  • Manage balancing Payroll invoices linked to Payroll cash disbursement
  • Partner with Senior Global Payroll Manager to provide accurate W2's
  • Manage the balancing of various Global annual filing (T-4, PD11, PD60, etc)
  • Support the Payroll team with state and Local Tax setup including reciprocity validations
  • Partner with other Senior Analyst and Sr Global Payroll Manager on the implementation of new technology to streamline Payroll Processing US and Global
  • Manage testing new system set up, functional system enhancements, system updates and integrations
  • Collaborate with multiple business teams (i.e. HR, HRops, accounting, Equity and Business Systems)
  • Identify and participate in process improvement projects, including various implementation and upgrades
  • Manage Payroll Standard Operating Procedure Documentation
  • Work closely with the Payroll operation team to provide excellent customer service to our employees and business partners
  • Work closely with internal cross functional team and vendors to ensure HR, Benefits and Payroll changes are processed, accurate funding occurs for all accounts, tax remittance, general ledger balancing, month-end close support is completed in a timely manner
  • Assist Sr Global Payroll Manager with annual audits (I.e. 401k , Worker's Comp, SOX audit)
  • Support the payroll accounting team with Month end reconciliation research as needed
  • Participate in various payroll projects and other opportunities as assigned

Qualifications

You have:

  • Minimum 6+ years’ experience in US payroll tax administration
  • Strong understanding of Payroll accounting procedures
  • Proficient in MS Excel including advanced formulas functions (Vlookups, Pivot tables, IF statements)
  • 5+ years of payroll experience and knowledgeable of wage and hourly laws
  • Strong analytical-report writer experience
  • Working knowledge with ADP Workforce Now, Ultimate (Ultipro) and Workday HRIS a plus
  • Experience with federal, state, local statutory and various payroll audits support
  • Knowledge of SOX controls
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality to payroll and other employee personal information
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical mindset with good judgement and high level of attention to details and accuracy
  • Independent and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent organization skills; ability to handle multiple priorities within deadlines is required 
  • CPP certification preferred
