Digital Content Lead, Internal Communications

  • Full-time

Company Description

We believe the economy is better when everyone has access. When everyone has room to grow. No one should be left out because the cost is too great or the technology too complex. We started with a little white credit card reader but haven’t stopped there. We’re empowering the independent electrician to send invoices, setting up the favorite food truck with a delivery option, helping the ice cream shop pay its employees, and giving the burgeoning coffee chain capital for a second, third, and fourth location. We’re here to help sellers of all sizes start, run, and grow their business—and helping them grow their business is good business for everyone.

Job Description

The Employee Engagement & Internal Communications team builds content, campaigns, programs, and tools to keep Squares connected to the company and each other. Our primary engagement tool is mySquare, our central internal platform for company news, resources, and events. This is a critical platform that Squares rely on to stay informed, represent themselves and their work, connect with each other, and find key resources. And we've only scratched the surface of all it can do.

This role will focus on comprehensive content creation and management for mySquare and other internal platforms, working closely with our executive team, People team, Communications team, and many others across the company. It requires creativity, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to change course quickly and perform in high-stress situations, and (perhaps most importantly) a sense of humor. In many ways, this role helps shape the voice and culture of Square globally and ensures that it reflects our purpose and values.

This role's location may be based in either of Squares Bay Area offices (Oakland or San Francisco).

You will:

  • Create original content and campaigns (lots of brainstorming, lots of writing, lots of editing) to engage, educate, and entertain Squares worldwide.

  • Manage the overall mySquare content schedule and strategy and gather insights from analytics to drive content decisions.

  • Coordinate with content contributors from teams across the company to conceive and execute internal communication campaigns

  • Partner with our Communications Design team to develop content for digital display screens in offices around the world, and develop a scalable content management process.

  • Support internal communications needs for the Office Experience team, including events, global expansion, change management, and crisis communications.

Qualifications

You have:

  • A Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • A minimum four years relevant work experience, including some form of experience with content and/or campaign management.

  • Experience planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing simultaneous projects and activities.

  • Strong and prolific writing skills (in particular, the ability to write creatively and with humor), extensive copy-editing experience, and an appreciation for the Oxford comma.

  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change.

  • A willingness to invent and learn – you are not afraid to put an idea into action, measure its success, and apply learnings to future decisions.

  • Natural ability to build interpersonal relationships and manage conflict.
