Job Description

As a Global Supply Manager on the Hardware Operations team, you will be responsible for managing mechanical related commodities in all of Squares Hardware portfolio. This individual will manage supplier business relationships which include pricing and contract negotiations, component quality, forecasting, and supply assurance.

You will:

  • Work cross-functionally with Industrial Design, Engineering, and Hardware Operations

  • Own and manage the following areas:

    • Strategic Sourcing: vendor selection and relationship management, market intelligence on potential suppliers, monitoring vendor deliverables and schedules.

    • Build support: onsite management of any custom mechanical component development with our manufacturing partners

    • Supply Management: demand forecasting, supply assurance and capacity planning, ramp readiness, yield, throughput improvement and issue resolution.

    • Cost Management: negotiate pricing, cost reductions, RFQs, benchmarking and cost modeling.

    • Risk Management: Analyze technical and business risks and develop strategy for mitigation in a dynamic industry.

  • Travel ~15% mostly internationally

Qualifications

You have:

  • At least 7+ years of experience in Global Supply Management with mechanical components (Sheet metal, plastic injection molded parts, anodized aluminum, etc.).  Electro-mechanical parts experience a bonus (IML, LDS, Connectors, etc). Display commodity experience strong bonus.

  • Develop a nuanced understanding of the commodity landscape in mechanicals and enclosures in order to forecast industry trends and gauge emerging competitive forces. Identify changes in buyer and supplier leverage within core materials markets and use competitive dynamics to Squares advantage.  

  • A demonstrated ability to articulate complex manufacturing & supply chain concepts to business & engineering stakeholders

  • ME Preferred, MBA is a plus.  Supply Chain management degree, also considered.

  • Technical background highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of and experience with, global supplier development & management, hardware development schedules, and cost management

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Proven track record of meeting challenging organizational objectives

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work in multinational environments, driven and motivated by accomplishing world-class objectives

  • Must have exceptional ability to maintain and develop relationships within cross-functional teams within Square as well as suppliers teams and management

  • Great attention to detail with strong written/verbal communication skills

  • Exceptional analytical and Excel skills

  • Exceptional relationship management skills for dealing with Squares diverse supply base.
