Managing Editor, Town Square
- San Francisco, CA
We believe the economy is better when everyone has access. When everyone has room to grow. No one should be left out because the cost is too great or the technology too complex. We started with a little white credit card reader but haven’t stopped there. We’re empowering the independent electrician to send invoices, setting up the favorite food truck with a delivery option, helping the ice cream shop pay its employees, and giving the burgeoning coffee chain capital for a second, third, and fourth location. We’re here to help sellers of all sizes start, run, and grow their business—and helping them grow their business is good business for everyone.
Square’s Content Marketing team provides independent businesses with valuable information, actionable insights, and inspiration. We develop content that works throughout the marketing funnel and is distributed as part of a number of strategies. The main house for all of our content is the Town Square blog.
This role will oversee Town Square, acting as its Managing Editor, focusing specifically on reader retention. You will set the Town Square editorial agenda and generate story ideas. You will oversee the editorial calendar and own the day-to-day operations, taking a lead role in editing and managing editorial process and governance. You will develop a strategy for working with freelancers, contributors, and partners -- and manage a budget. And you will develop strategies for driving visitors to the site through syndication and then encouraging repeat visits.
You should bring a creative and innovative point of view to the team as we aim to build Town Square as a go-to resource for independent businesses. This includes partnering with the Content Marketing Lead to create a stellar user experience and a cutting edge analytics framework.
This role works closely with the rest of the Content Marketing team as well as cross-functionally with Communications, Brand, Social Media, SEO, Demand Generation, Product Marketing, and Creative to create content and build marketing strategies.
