The Square Seller business provides products and services that helps sellers start, run, and grow their businesses and participate in the economy. The foundation of our offerings is a full service, managed payments offering and extends to include point-of-sale software and services that help sellers make informed business decisions on their orders, inventory, locations, employees, and customers. We have grown rapidly to serve millions of sellers that represent a diverse set of industries and sizes, and span geographies including the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The Seller team includes both product business teams, as well as go-to-market and operational functional teams.

We are looking for an analyst supporting Square’s Seller Business with a mandate that focuses on finance processes, systems, and data scale with Square’s growth. You will play a critical role partnering directly with finance business partners on key elements of operational execution such as procurement, team and company headcount management, and management reporting. You will play a key role in driving process efficiencies within the finance team.

You will:

  • Own and centralize key operational aspects of the finance function, including areas related to: 

    • Management reporting: you will perform analysis and provide insight for regular variance to budget reporting and support key budget and investment decisions.

    • Headcount management: Square’s largest financial investment is in its people; you will coordinate with business, recruiting and HR partners to manage detailed headcount planning efforts.

    • Procurement: you will partner closely with business areas to manage bottoms-up budget builds and tracking to budget.

  • Demonstrate a mindset of continuous improvement to drive efficiencies within F&S and more effective business partnering across Square. 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive key initiatives such as process improvement and standardization, system enhancements, and data governance.

  • Play a key role in creating finance process documentation, training guides, and resources. You will become an expert for finance process and policy questions and support business partner and new manager training.

  • Build trust with finance business partners and business leaders at Square

Qualifications

You have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or other relevant field

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in finance operations, FP&A, audit, accounting, and/or procurement

  • Prior experience with financial planning systems and financial planning process within larger finance organizations; experience in the technology industry is a plus but not required. 

  • Self-starter and team-player mentality

  • Ability to execute independently across functional teams

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • Commitment to Square’s mission

Even better:

  • Experience with Hyperion, Oracle Procurement and/or Workday is a plus

  • Experience with process improvement and/or operations experience is a plus
