Job Description

The Customer Engagement team’s mission is to help merchants grow their business by giving them the tools to know, support, engage, and acquire their customers. Our product suite includes CRM, omni-channel marketing (e.g. email, social, advertising), feedback and messaging, loyalty and rewards. We’re looking for data-minded engineers to help build the next generation of our Customer Data Platform which is used by Square and third party developers to build their customer-focused products.

You Will:

  • Design and build new features that enable merchants to better understand and serve their customers
  • Deliver APIs that make it easy for developers to interact with customer data
  • Design access management systems that enable developers to confidently + securely integrate their critical customer data with Square’s point of sale platform
  • Build systems that analyze and improve customer data quality for Square’s sellers
  • Improve the personalization capabilities that power Square Marketing in order help Square’s sellers attract the best customers for their business
  • Devise solutions to performance and scalability challenges as our customer data set continues to grow
  • Build for the future by clearly communicating the cost-benefit of a given solution and advocating for the best path forward
  • Visit merchants to see the product(s) in action
  • Embrace opportunities to stretch yourself by learning new technologies

Qualifications

You have:

  • 7+ years of software development experience on a Data, Machine Learning, or Platform team 
  • An advanced degree in a quantitative field (stats, physics, computer science) or equivalent experience
  • Experience in designing and productionizing large-scale distributed systems built around big data.
  • Excellent skills with all things data: modeling, access management, quality, data pipelines, insights
  • A passion for leveraging your critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills to deliver remarkable solutions to your customers
  • The ability to thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure

Even Better:

  • Knowledge of or experience applying machine learning models
