Job Description

At Square Developer platform, we are focused on enabling developers to build applications and integrations to meet the needs of a wide range of merchants. Our IAM services enable businesses to control access to applications, employees and other businesses. With the growth of the Square platform, the workload and access requirements have evolved significantly, demanding the next order of scale and flexibility in our access management systems. 

The Developer Platform team is driving the evolution of our systems to an open platform that provides access to a rich ecosystem of services for merchants. We are looking for a director-level engineering leader to enable this shift while maintaining a seamless experience for our customers and internal services. This hugely impactful and visible role requires a leader who can build a long-term vision for the space, drive execution, develop credibility across the company and influence other engineering leaders across Square products.

You Will:

  • Hire and develop leaders on your team to drive the strategy of the greater Developer Platform organization

  • Work closely with product managers and peer teams across Square to deliver results in a fast-paced environment

  • Drive long-term thinking and innovation in an ambiguous space, and evangelize your organization to drive the business forward.

Qualifications

You Have 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

  • 10+ years relevant software development and systems design experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Development Manager

  • Proven experience with service-oriented architectures, design patterns and large scale web services

  • Prior experience working in the security and IAM domains

  • Prior experience working on building platforms for Developers

  • Experience leading large software services that have successfully been delivered to customers
