Finance and Strategy Senior Analyst, Cash App

  • San Francisco, CA
  • Full-time

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

Cash App is the fastest growing financial brand in the world. Built to take the pain out of peer-to-peer payments, Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic money app with over 15 million active monthly users. Loved by customers and by pop culture, we’ve held the #1 spot in Finance on the App Store for almost two years, and our social media posts see more engagement in a day than most financial brands see in a year. With major offices in San Francisco, New York, St. Louis, Portland, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Melbourne, Cash App is bringing a better way to send, spend, and invest to anyone who has ever sought an alternative to today’s banking system.

The Cash App team is focused on building financial service products for individuals, whether making it easier to send / receive money, make purchases using the Cash Card, receive discounts through Cash Boost, as well as buy / sell fractions of BTC and public equities. Cash App has seen tremendous user growth, and along with this growth comes incredible opportunities, and significant challenges for our business. As a key business partner for the Cash App team, you will play a critical role tackling the following responsibilities below:

Strategic Decision Support:

We are the analytic advisor to our business partners. Responsibilities include analytics initiatives such as financial modeling, customer LTV analysis, product/competitive landscape benchmarking, referral-marketing design/analysis, and other data-driven analysis in support of key business / product decisions.

Forecasting:

We use data to predict short-term and long-term trends for making strategic decisions. We have intimate knowledge of the data available and actively mine it from our SQL databases. We build models in Excel to understand complex relationships between variables and gain insight.

Financial Planning & Reporting:

We have an intimate understanding of Squares business. We gain this by regularly partnering with business functions (e.g. Business Intelligence, Finance/Accounting, Marketing, Products, International, and others) to analyze and report on the financial impact of decisions across the company. We support our business partners to manage their budgets and ensure they have resource allocations to invest properly behind key initiatives.

Qualifications

You have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or other relevant field

  • 4 to 6 years of relevant industry experience investment banking, consulting, or corporate finance

  • Excellent proficiency in financial modeling and Excel (you should be prepared for a case study)

Even better:

  • Experience with fintech a plus

  • Experience with SQL and data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau)
