Job Description
The role of the Hardware Product Marketing Manager is to be the in-market hardware expert, partnering closely with both product marketing and product management. This includes understanding how sellers use our existing hardware in-market, tracking market conditions impacting product sales and usage, understanding customer segments and defining messaging, setting up and running product betas for new products, gathering product insights, and helping to feed those insights back to the central hardware team for incorporation into future product development. It is the Hardware Product Marketing Manager’s job to ensure products have been tested thoroughly in-market before launch, that the right customers are getting the right message through the right channels, and that we are building and supporting the right products for our customers.
This role will be based in the UK and will primarily cover the UK, but will support hardware product marketing in other markets as necessary as we staff the team across markets. It will work across our full existing hardware portfolio and future products launched in the UK and potentially other markets. It will also work closely with a cross functional team of product management, hardware and software engineering, marketing, creative, sales/account management, customer success, supply/demand and logistics.
We are looking for a highly motivated, top performer to join the team. The right candidate will be data-driven, strategic, analytical, results-oriented and a clear communicator with a background in product management or product marketing and/or strategy, ideally with consumer electronics experience.
You will:
Drive local hardware product marketing efforts by
Drafting customer segmentation and adapting messaging framework for new product launches
Researching relevant market trends/opportunities and making recommendations for changes to product offer
Reviewing competitive offerings and make recommendations for competitive differentiation
Gathering qualitative and quantitative seller insights and funnel back to product marketing
Supporting price testing, pricing research, pricing analytics, and eventual recommendations
Acting as local lead for go-to-market efforts
Gathering and sharing product feedback from Communications, Sales, Acquisition, and a broad range of cross-functional teams
Sharing accountability for sales performance with central product marketing manager for each product
Drive local hardware product management efforts by
Quickly developing an understanding of customer profiles and use cases for the current in-market hardware products
Gathering qualitative and quantitative product feedback and funneling back to product team to incorporate into roadmap
Providing feedback on products in development from the local market perspective
Lead local hardware product betas in the UK and potentially in other countries, including
Partnering with hardware product team to develop an execution plan for achieving beta requirements
Recruiting beta merchants and acting as primary point of contact for beta merchant support
Collecting qualitative and sometimes quantitative feedback from merchants and sharing with product team
Documenting beta units, feedback, and progress against execution plan throughout beta
Offer creative problem solving and analytical reasoning
Be a strong leader and hardware product champion in-market
Qualifications
You have:
3-6 years of professional experience
Strong quantitative analytical ability
Excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong organizational skills
Demonstrated capacity to communicate complex, large-scale concepts clearly and simply
Comfort leading initiatives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, start-up environment
Prior experience in consulting or a strategy-related role
Prior experience in payments, technology, or hardware is a plus
