Job Description

As Square has grown, so have our sellers – going from businesses with just a few employees, to many (sometimes hundreds or thousands!). Team Management provides business owners and managers the tools they need to monitor and manage their entire team. This includes providing robust permission functionality within Point of Sale and Square Dashboard, plus allowing sellers to track their team’s time with timecards. Team Management helps give our sellers the peace of mind that their business is running smoothly, even if they’re not physically present.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the team, you’ll be at the forefront of Square’s opportunity to become a one-stop shop for our sellers. Work includes:

  • Design and build new features that enable merchants to optimize their team management
  • Devise solutions to performance and scalability challenges as we grow our sellerbase
  • Embrace opportunities to stretch yourself by learning new technologies
  • Mentors other engineers on the team
  • Work with teams across Square to provide the most cohesive user experience in the industry


You have:

  • 6+ years of full-stack development experience, including web applications, and an excellent command of engineering fundamentals
  • Strong expertise in developing and architecting at least one of: iOS, Android, Front-End or Server software - plus willing and open to grow in both breadth and depth there
  • Interest in helping to shape the mission and roadmap, and rallying others to join you
  • A strong sense of customer empathy and the desire to influence the product direction
  • Eagerness to share your own ideas, and openness to those of others
  • Innate curiosity and desire to build products with engaging experiences that merchants depend on
