Job Description
As an Inventory Planner, you will be responsible for analyzing, refining and optimizing retail inventory requirements, with collaboration from both internal and external partners. This individual will also manage inventory for our third party products (peripherals sold with Square's own payment devices) . The Inventory Planner will act as the focal point in development, communication, and execution of product inventory needs.
You possess a passion for innovative analysis, processes that scale, and the wherewithal to develop findings and recommendations that transcend the numbers. Ideally, you have a background in retail inventory/allocation planning. The ideal candidate is effective in communication and influencing in a variety of group settings.
You will:
Analyze current inventory levels, lead times, demand forecasts, & WOS inventory goals to recommend ordering levels
Execute strategies to optimize stock and ensure that we do not go on back order
Closely monitor inventory levels to ensure seamless execution for new product launches and in-store display initiatives
Conduct ad hoc analyses and build reporting to monitor inventory
Communicate with suppliers to ensure follow-through on replenishment orders and previously forecasted inventory commitments
Build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of external business partners
Highlight supply risks and develop strategies to mitigate supply risks
Qualifications
You have:
A minimum of 3 years experience in inventory/merchandise planning, allocation, or distribution analysis
Data driven mindset with strong attention to detail and ability to successfully balance quantitative and qualitative information
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and retail math (you should be prepared for an Excel test)
Ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions even in the face of ambiguous data points
Possesses a sense of urgency and comfortable flagging concerns/risks
High level of comfort presenting in a variety of settings
Ability to respond to challenges, confidently field and ask thought-provoking questions with cross functional business partners
Proven track record of developing relationships with external stakeholders
Ability to translate data into actionable information to drive results
Able to think strategically and execute tactically
A persistent attention to detail and a high level of comfort in analyzing numbers
Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, or other relevant field
