Growth Marketing Manager, Content Strategy

As Square Point of Sale’s first Growth Marketing Manager for Content Strategy, you will lead the way in planning, developing, and optimizing content to acquire and engage Sellers, helping them adopt our products while building the Square brand. We’re looking for someone who thinks out of the box, who can design innovative content programs that tell great stories, bring products to life and get measurable results. As a member of the Square Point of Sale product organization, the Content Strategist will work closely with product, sales and customer support teams to ideate and prioritize content opportunities. This content leader will also closely collaborate with our Central Marketing and Editorial teams to define and socialize content creation and distribution best practices at Square.
Leverage insights from product and marketing analytics to plan, create and edit multi-format content that drives growth and affinity for Square’s flagship software products
Develop content strategy, including managing editorial calendar and web content pipeline and production for use in growth marketing, and providing clear and effective communication of project requirements across stakeholders and functions (editorial, paid media, social media, email, etc).
Identify content-driven opportunities to boost SEO performance, and collaborating with centralized SEO teams to implement recommendations
Develop channel strategies and identifying potential partnerships to optimize paid content distribution, maximizing reach and impact
Oversee the strategy, production and discoverability of video content on Youtube and other emerging channels
Manage a rich content calendar that supports a regular cadence of various types of content (e.g. interactive tools, blog posts, ebooks, video series, infographics, product guides) that are aligned to the Seller journey
Proactive monitoring media, cultural and competitor trends in order to be able to recommend forward-thinking ideas to push our products and brand forward
A BA/BS degree or equivalent
5+ years in marketing (in-house or agency), with proven experience in content strategy development, as well as organic and paid content distribution across channels such as search, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, etc.
Experience producing content for desktop and mobile web, including an understanding of information architecture and web content best practices
Familiarity with attribution models and campaign reporting metrics that drive lead generation and retargeting opportunities
Up-to-date knowledge of SEO best practices and growth strategies
Bonus points for proven experience delivering growth in SMB tech
A strong test and learn mindset; comfort developing clear testing, measurement and optimization plans
Genuine interest in and curiosity in helping small businesses succeed
