Job Description

With Square Capital, we have extended over $6 billion in funding to our sellers, helping them manage their cash flows and invest in and grow their businesses. As a Platform Product Manager on Square Capital, you will be responsible for driving technical product initiatives from inception through execution. In this role you will collaborate closely with the Platform team engineers, data science, operations, and other cross-functional Capital team members to help expand access to credit by building the platform that forms the backbone of Square Capital products.

You will:

  • Own delivery of prioritized platform initiatives and releases

    • Research and scope identified opportunities / capabilities to help our customers

    • Write and iterate on requirements (PRDs, one pagers, or any other form needed to communicate the problem, why it matters, and what we want to do to solve it)

    • Collaborate closely with Engineers on planning / build / testing / rollout

  • Define and communicate platform product strategy

    • Establish and align a short/medium term vision for large areas of Capital’s platform team based on the overall Capital strategy - intimately understand our biggest problems and what we unlock by solving them

    • Deeply grasp and research market alternatives to our platform ecosystem to ensure confidence in our direction or make changes accordingly

  • Set and communicate platform roadmap & ongoing progress 

    • Ruthlessly prioritize the right work to achieve Capital’s near and long term objectives


Who You Are: 

  • You have 6+ years of direct product/ technical product management responsibilities

    • You may also have a technical or financial services background: Engineering, CS, Data Science, Accounting / Ledger systems, or anything similar

  • You’re collaborative with a track record of earning trust and delivering results with cross-functional teams

  • You enjoy going deep into the technical “weeds” - you have no fear of the unknown! 

  • You're a self-starter and thrive solving ambiguous problems

  • You’re efficient and able to ruthlessly prioritize

  • You thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment 

    • Bonus points if you’ve worked at a rapidly growing startup, especially in fin-tech or financial services

  • You’re passionate about Square’s mission and new technology
