Job Description

The Accounting Engineering team tracks every dollar and cent that goes in and out of a Square merchant’s dashboard. Customers and team members rely on this platform for the source of truth on their money’s movement, making this team essential to both Square’s success and a merchant’s business. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll join the team responsible for building the distributed systems that power this source of truth.

You will:

Build cloud-native, general-purpose, multi-tenant, accounting services that will power the source of truth for merchant balances
Decompose the monolithic services powering all merchant accounting and settlement today into smaller microservices for greater scale and flexibility
Build systems that manage customers’ sensitive data and hold Square to the highest standards for security and compliance
Work with our product, business, and finance teams to develop Square’s global payments strategy
Mentor junior engineers on the team and report directly into a Senior Engineering Manager on the Payments Platform team

Qualifications

You have:

Experience building distributed systems and internal services - we use Java and Go
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant software experience in backend services
Natural curiosity and a desire to help build platforms that reliably move billions of dollars in a small, highly focused team
Nice to have: experience working with Kubernetes
