Job Description

The Compliance Testing and Monitoring Lead oversees the corporate development of compliance testing and monitoring programs. This is an essential second line of defense role and develops compliance testing, evaluation, and monitoring processes and ensures the effectiveness of internal controls used to comply with applicable regulatory, contractual, and requirements for our ecosystem of products. You will communicate the compliance methodology and results to associates, management, clients, regulators, and auditors.You will report to the Compliance Lead.

You will:

  • Develop and oversee execution of our compliance testing and monitoring programs including testing methodology and executive reporting
  • Manage a team responsible for performing targeted compliance testing for adherence to partner and regulatory requirements applicable to Square’s business globally by evaluating processes and controls following established timelines and compliance testing guidelines
  • Identify control deficiencies, evaluate risk effects, and draw the appropriate conclusions to best communicate with operational areas and management
  • Validate control weaknesses identified through quality checks, compliance testing, reviews, and examinations are tracked, evaluated, prioritized based on risk, responded to, and closed
  • Ensure compliance risks related to new systems, processes, products, and services are identified and assessed or tested
  • Provide guidance to operational areas and management on requirements of applicable laws and regulations
  • Aggregate and monitor compliance testing and quality control results for trends, and escalate moderate to high risk concerns to the appropriate levels of leadership

Qualifications

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience working in compliance role
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Experience working with lending programs, financial products, and related regulations (e.g., fair lending laws / ECOA, UDAAP, SCRA, TILA, conduct risk, complaints handling)
  • In-depth experience with development and testing of compliance programs
  • Familiarity with BSA/AML, and OFAC sanctions compliance
