Job Description

Square’s e-commerce team enables our merchants to build websites and manage their online stores. As a Mobile Engineering Manager on ECOM, you’d lead the iOS team that helps our merchants make sales through any channel. Working with Product and Design, you’d establish a vision and help build the roadmap for this team as they integrate fully into the Square ecosystem. Whether they’re selling online, in-person, over social media, or through QR codes, this team empowers our merchants to get to business in whatever way works best. And good business for them, is good business for us.


You will:

  • Manage an excellent team of experienced and passionate iOS engineers. 

  • Grow the team by hiring remarkable talent, coaching engineers, fostering engineering decision-making, and applying your technical and managerial expertise to maintain a high bar

  • Form excellent working relationships with your counterparts in design, product, marketing, and vendors, as well as other engineering and business teams across Square. 

  • Shape, schedule & document team’s work to ensure successful project execution. 

  • Report into a Director of Engineering and participate in essential technical, design, and product discussions with teams across the organization.


You have:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical, working experience (6+ years preferred) 

  • At least 2 years experience managing engineers (including providing feedback, investing in the career growth of your team members and growing teams). 

  • Experience creating readable, well-crafted, maintainable code.

  • An eye for design and an ear for the customer. 

  • Passion for building remarkable experiences in mobile applications. 

  • Eagerness to share your ideas, and openness to those of others.
