Job Description

The Square Globalization team helps to bring Square to the world. Our goal is to provide creative, simple, unique, and localised experiences, drawing on our experience launching Square in the US and extending this to our international customers. We are looking for a content creator to join our team in Tokyo to help us shape the Square Japan message with maximum local relevance, amplifying our brand and products in Japan. You will be in a brand new role, reporting to the Global Head of Localization in San Francisco.

You Will:

  • Interpret global content strategy locally, tailoring our approach for the Japanese market.
  • Adapt campaign and evergreen messaging and imagery (from the Square website, blog content, paid marketing and emails) to provide local Japanese assets that resonate with our customers, and develop original Japanese content.
  • Support global campaigns with a localised Square Japan asset pipeline that addresses channel goals.
  • Transcreate assets to support product launches and ongoing campaigns, developing a pipeline for paid and organic channels with digital and static assets. 
  • Establish a voice and tone for the local market in Japan consistent with our global Square brand.
  • Perform linguistic validation as the Square expert for the Japanese market.
  • Identify requirements and prioritise deliverables for Square Japan and the global Localization team.
  • Work with Square Japan and international teams (Marketing, Product, Technical) on localization projects.

Qualifications

You Have:

 

  • Fluent Japanese and English
  • Experience with Japanese market cultural dimensions and linguistic norms 
  • Creative writing, asset localisation, translation and message transcreation experience
  • Familiarity with localization processes and technology
  • Previously worked with global brands in a role that engages with outside agencies to manage and produce locally relevant digital and static content for a variety of channels

Optional:

  • Experience with long-form writing online (for a blog, brand or website)
  • Experience with paid media marketing in print or online Experience with social media or email marketing campaigns
