Business Development Associate, Partnerships

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

Square is looking for Business Development Associate who thrives in challenging business development environments. You will help grow our Build With Square Platform by prospecting software platforms and technology companies that can build on top of Square’s APIs to provide our customers with tools to manage and grow their business. You will be part of a growing organization that needs your business development best-practices and experience. We will use a combination of inbound and outbound partnership prospecting in order to get in touch with potential new partners. As the first line of contact, you will need to be well-versed on all the many possible ways companies can partner with Square, including both technical and business feasibility, and be quick to react and qualify a partner given our team’s priorities. You will need curiosity and creativity to a growing API ecosystem and partner landscape. Your success will be measured by the number of new opportunities created for Partnerships Business Development Managers to close.

  • Build relationships with internal and external partners in order to source the next set of top tier partners Square should work with
  • Create a great first impression with prospective partners and inspire them to learn about how Square’s Platform can benefit their customers
  • Become a Square API product expert
  • Help build a prospecting discipline for Partnerships, and reach out to potential new partners
  • Thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment, where new opportunities emerge as our roadmap evolves and grows
  • Build relationships and bring a creative approach to your outreach
  • Be results oriented, have a focus on generating qualified opportunities
  • Have a positive approach in the face of challenges
  • Report to the BDA Team Lead

  • BA/BS degree
  • 1-2 years in a qualifying or prospecting role
  • Outbound or cold calling experience
  • No reservations communicating over the phone, video, or email
  • Experience with APIs is desired
  • Experience adapting to changing product-set
