Job Description
We are looking for a Partner Manager to join the Square Japan team. In this newly created role you will be the second member of the Japan Partnerships team and will report to the Lead - Partnerships in Tokyo. Our team’s mission is to create an ecosystem that connects partners and sellers, and enables both to build a business on Square. You’ll represent Square’s brand in Japan and help grow existing local partnerships, expanding these to cover new Square Japan products.
Square Japan partners include platform partners using Square API integrated third-party products (accounting and tax, form builders, booking and scheduling, items and inventory, delivery and orders, marketing and analytics, eCommerce, point of sale), and referral partners (organisations and agencies across banking and financial services, telecommunications and other markets). You will grow awareness of Square’s capability with these partners through product integration, partner promotional marketing activities and work with the Lead - Partnerships to advocate for feature enhancements and share Japanese market intelligence with global Product and Development teams. You will work with the global Partner Growth team to provide global partner programmes in Japan.
You will:
Manage ongoing Japanese partner management and growth programs
Maintain direct relationships with partners, account managing, resolving issues and creating value
Conduct ongoing integration maintenance (e.g. fixing bugs, upgrading to new APIs if available)
Encourage and support Square Sellers to adopt and work with Square Japan partners
Become a Square product expert - able to talk about Square’s partnership strategy and platform ecosystem
Analyse partner metrics and performance against ongoing goals and organise renewal of contract terms
Work with cross functional teams (Partner Engineering, Product, Partner Development team) to help partners integrate with Square and QA the integration, including listing on App Marketplace and public web and running marketing and PR activities
Conduct product training with partners
Identify “breakout” partner opportunities that deserve more broader attention and communicate these with the Lead - Partnerships
Work with a broad range of team members in Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales and Legal, serving as an advocate for your partners while balancing Square’s goals
Lead programs for Japan partners with internal Square teams and partner teams
Qualifications
You Have:
Undergraduate degree (preferably in a technical discipline) or equivalent experience
The ability to work with Japan-based customers in Japanese (writing and phone), and global Square colleagues in English (reading, writing and video meetings)
Experience having detailed technology-based conversations with partners across multiple industry verticals
A strategic approach, understanding the long-term benefit for both Square and our partners
Experience building and managing relationships with business leaders at all levels, with internal colleagues and external partners
Experience working cross-functionally with different teams, managing projects and marketing programs at scale
A passion for Square and desire to help customers
Optional
Understanding of other aspects of partner growth: prioritization of business, strategic and financial assessment, structuring and negotiation of new projects
