Job Description

Square is looking for a Jr. Designer to join our award-winning creative team. You will work with our different product teams, including PMs, PMMs, Product Designers and Engineers to create smart solutions that help tell the story of Square’s Core Point of Sale products. This includes Square Invoices, Square Marketing, and the main Square Point of Sale app. 

This is a hands-on role where you will receive direction from creative leadership and partner with cross-functional creative teams. We see you as a resource for campaign development and iterative exploration. We are looking for an agile work style and a desire for constant improvement.

On this team you will work with Sr. Designers, Writers and Art Directors. We will also have access to creative strategists, engineers, and program managers, in addition to functioning web, production design, photo, and video teams. For us, design isn’t static; it moves, talks, sings and vibrates. Designers at Square are versatile and enjoy working across all visual mediums. We are looking for deep collaboration, rapid prototyping and an open feedback cycle.

You will:

  • Design on-brand, on-concept graphics, layouts and contribute to the development of image / video assets, prepared for web, print, and physical installations
  • Work with Square’s product and marketing teams to turn project strategy and creative ideas into great design experiences 
  • Champion brand standards and design systems
  • Work with writers, producers, production artists, product managers, and marketers

Qualifications

You have:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • A great eye for layout, typography and design principles
  • Familiarity with a variety of design tools
  • Proficiency in Adobe CC, Sketch / Figma
  • Knowledge of best practices in web development, mobile development, web usability Ability to anticipate the needs of partners in preparing production-ready assets

Even better:

  • Basic photo retouching skills in Photoshop
  • Basic skills in a motion graphics package such as After Effects or Lottie
