Job Description

The Customer Engagement team’s mission is to help Sellers grow their businesses by giving them the tools to know, support, engage, and acquire their customers. Our product suite includes CRM, omni-channel marketing (e.g. email, social, advertising), feedback and messaging, loyalty and rewards. We’re looking for full stack engineers to help build the next generation of Product & Platform solutions that help our Buyers to centrally manage their data with Square in a privacy centric way & Sellers to conveniently manage & grow their business by leveraging our network of Buyers and provide personalized experiences to their customers.

You Will:

  • Design and build features for Square Sellers to better understand and personalize experiences of their customers

  • Design and build features for Square Buyers to help them enhance their shopping experience at Square Sellers and manage their data with Square in a privacy centric manner

  • Foster innovation in building elegant user-facing mobile & web experiences that are intuitive and smooth for products serving millions of sellers & buyers

  • Own end to end development process including design, implementation, automated testing & rollout for our frontend systems to enable faster and stable feature development

  • Deliver REST APIs that make it easy for developers to interact with customer data

  • Work cross-team to build features and integrate with other domains ex. Customer Cards, Appointments, Gift Cards etc.

  • Devise solutions to solve performance and scalability challenges as our customer data set continues to grow

  • Collaborate with other senior engineers & make engineering recommendations to solve problems with a long term mindset

  • Take a principled approach for architecting solutions by clearly communicating the cost-benefit of a given solution and advocating for the best path forward

Qualifications

You have:

  • 6+ years of software development experience

  • At least 3 years recent full stack experience and comfortable switching gears between frontend / backend as situations arise

  • Experience delivering consumer facing products / features from definition to delivery

  • Experience designing and productionizing large-scale distributed systems & REST APIs

  • Experience with SQL & NoSQL databases

  • Technical acumen for defining data models, interfaces and workflows

  • Passion for applying critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills to architect remarkable solutions for end users

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment involving cross functional stakeholders and subject matter experts

Even Better:

  • Experience with event driven async pipelines/message queues and data synchronization

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure
