Job Description

The Security Strategy & Partnerships team is responsible for identifying risks to our ecosystem, defining a product focused security strategy and security engineering roadmap, and driving security improvements in collaboration with teams across Square to protect our buyers, sellers, and the company. We are looking for a senior leader to scale our security practices and enable teams throughout our ecosystem to ship products that are both remarkable and secure. 


In this role, you will:

  • Work with product organizations and your team to establish, communicate, and achieve security and privacy posture that appropriately balances risk with growth
  • Drive our overall security strategy and priorities through high-level analysis of security risks to our buyers, sellers, and the company based on intelligence gathered by Security Partners through threat modeling, consultation, and risk analysis to ensure we're addressing the most pressing concerns.
  • Lead, grow, and expand a team of talented security architects who partner closely with product organizations across Square
  • Drive far-reaching initiatives that address security challenges both directly and through your team
  • Collaborate with partner teams both inside and outside of our Security organization to prioritize, design, and deploy mitigations at every level of the stack
  • Foster a security culture focused on enablement and a deep understanding of what it takes to develop great products

You have: 

  • 10+ years of demonstrated success establishing and scaling security practices in modern technology company environments
  • 5+ years of hiring and developing fantastic security architects, security program managers, or similar roles
  • Broad knowledge of security challenges and mitigations, exposure to compliance engineering and regulatory processes, and empathy for the difficulties of product development
  • Ability to influence executive leadership, and to communicate comfortably and concisely to audiences at every level and in every role within the company
