Job Description
The International Accountant will be an important addition to the finance organization as Square grows around the world. This position is based at our Dublin office in Ireland. You provide accounting and financial oversight for many of Square's European subsidiaries, and is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the financial records and ensures that financial close and reporting processes are consistent with Corporate requirements. You will assist with: the month-end close process, various monthly/annual reports, audit support for statutory and compliance audits, reconciliations and research, analysis of financial data, support of operational processes, and ad hoc projects.
You Will:
- Oversee specific accounting processes for many of Square's European subsidiaries
- Prepare journal entries, month end account reconciliations and flux analysis
- Provide updates and analyses for the entities under you responsibility during close meetings
- Help with international statutory audits and tax returns and handle requests and inquiries from external auditors
- Help with quarterly and annual US auditor reviews with regards to international accounts, support and reconciliations
- Work with Accounting, Finance & Strategy, Tax , Counsel and Treasury (internal Square teams) to ensure daily international operational needs are met
- Drive plans for global process continuity across international entities and implement enhancements and improvements
- Implement processes and document controls to ensure SOX compliant internal control environment
- Manage the preparation of reconciliations for some important regulatory reports such as the safeguarding of client funds.
- Perform other responsibilities and ad hoc requests
Qualifications
You Have:
- Qualified accountant with 2+ years industry experience
- Technical expertise in US GAAP and IFRS
- Experience with global entity structures and multi-country/currency environment
- Excel skills (can perform complex functions) and experience with major ERP systems (Oracle/Hyperion preferred).
- Experience analyzing financial statements/schedules and write commentary to explain results/variances
- Proficiency in accounting research
- Passion for Square and interest in technology / knowledge of the industry
