As a Product Designer Manager on our Marketing Automation team, you will be responsible for building tools and growing a team of designers that drives efficiency and ease of use of tools used by our product teams to market and enhance their products across the entire Square ecosystem. The Automation team enables and measures the unified customer journey, intelligently empowering customers through Square's ecosystem of products. This team is the brain that ensures the right messaging is displayed to our merchants at the right time, in the right place. We work with every product to best serve their growth needs, and help their sellers learn new and better ways to take full advantage of the products they currently use, and products they didn’t know could be serving them.

We are looking for a designer who revels in the complexities of designing systems that use automation and machine learning to strengthen channels for an eager set of customers who are constantly looking for new and better ways to run their business. You must have a passion for creating tools that are simple and intuitive for your internal customers to effectively message their sellers.

Qualifications

You have:

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Led a team of 3 or more designers
  • A portfolio that shows work you were directly responsible for the success of with little guidance from leadership
  • You have led teams that have contributed to high impact projects for your company

  • You work with your cross-functional team to form ideas that contribute to roadmaps and strategy
  • You are part of conversations about improving the processes and operations of your cross-functional team
  • You provide feedback and mentorship to your reports and designers outside of your direct teams
  • You can connect work streams and identify areas where your team should collaborate on company-wide initiatives
  • You execute on design deliverables for small efforts that will be shipped, reserving higher complexity initiatives for your reports
  • You maintain a healthy and productive team through timely performance conversations, recognition of team issues and effective process to resolve them
  • You have experience working on products for internal teams
