Job Description

Square is looking for a People Ops Specialist on the People Ops team to help us build a great employee experience globally, with special attention for our APAC region You will be on the frontline answering people-related questions and providing resources to employees throughout their careers at Square, and also partner with cross-functional teams to implement and improve existing and new HR processes. This is a perfect role for someone looking to make an impact, get hands-on HR experience, and gain exposure to different facets of the business.

***This role is based in Melbourne, Australia but requires Japanese speaking proficiency** 


You will: 

  • Respond to queries from all employees globally on people-related matters, with special focus on those that require Japanese language proficiency

  • Resolve issues and requests from employees and cross-functional partners through our Concierge ticketing system

  • Process HR transactions in Workday for changes throughout the employee lifecycle

  • Provide operational HR support for our APAC offices, including serving as a local point of contact for coordinating onboarding for our APAC offices

  • Help surface local issues to cross-functional teams, including HR Business Partners, Learning & Programs, IT, Payroll, Business Systems, Office Experience, and Trust & Safety

  • Keep Square safe by working on programs to remain compliant with global employment regulations, such as managing the right-to-work verification process for new-hires and re-verifications in our international offices, overseeing Employee Handbook releases, and supporting audit requirements

  • Ensure the People Ops and HR processes support a consistent and positive people experience

You have:

  • 2+ years experience in HR or employee experience roles

  • Experience working with HRIS systems (e.g. Workday, Visier, Glint)

  • Experience working with G Suite, Slack, or other collaborative technologies for workplaces

  • Japanese fluency, both written and oral

  • English fluency, both written and oral

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal), with an ability to build partnerships and establish rapport and credibility at all levels globally

  • Willingness to travel to Japan and internationally when needed
