Job Description

Square Payroll, one of the most rapidly growing products at Square, is hiring a Payroll Tax Operations Specialist to play an integral role in handling customer tax filing and payment escalation inquiries. We are looking for an experienced customer support problem solver with keen attention to detail, experience with implementing process improvements, and strong critical thinking skills to help us deliver quality support to our customers.

Qualifications

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, tax, business, or equivalent

  • 2-4 years of experience in tax and or payroll tax required, experience with federal and state payroll tax filings strongly preferred

  • Excellent skills in time management, de-escalation, composure, and prioritization

  • Creative problem-solving

  • Cross-functional agility

  • Superior Payroll product, process, and policy knowledge

  • Composure under pressure and ambiguous circumstances and constant change

  • Self-sufficiency, using all available resources

  • Approach work with positivity

  • Self-motivation with the desire for ownership and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, ever changing and innovative environment while working collaboratively across multiple functions

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, passionate about improving workflows and process

  • Excellent interpersonal and writing skills, comfortable communicating with our customers over phone and email

  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
