Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. The Communications Platform team builds the platform that delivers hundreds of millions of messages per month to Square merchants and customers. Our main mission is to make communication between Square and its customers scalable, easy, effective, and intelligent.
We enable multi-channel (email, sms, push, in-product) real-time messaging through well defined APIs.
We are a small, focused, and rapidly growing team with an abundance of growth and impact opportunities.
Reliably guarantee the delivery of millions of messages per day
Scale our systems to meet ever increasing demand
Design APIs and the underlying data models used by many apps and microservices
Partner with product teams at Square that integrate with our platform to guide integration plans & troubleshoot bugs as needed
Leverage data and ML models to optimize delivery
Work with designers and product managers to build intuitive and useful tools for our customers
Mentor other developers on the team
Contribute to the broader tech and open source communities
Work with cloud solutions like AWS and Google Cloud Platform
3+ years of software engineering experience, and an excellent command of engineering fundamentals
Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages
A passion to build beautiful, intuitive products
Empathy for your customers and colleagues
Strong communication skills
