Senior UX Researcher

  • Full-time
  • Alternate Location: Los Angeles, United States

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

We are seeking individual contributor UX researchers to fill multiple open roles for  many different product teams. These teams span many different surfaces throughout the Square ecosystem, from Points of Sale, our public facing website, our manager tools, and many other product areas. However, the work doesn’t stop with our software and we strive to put ourselves in the shoes of our customers to find innovative new ways to help them run their business.

UX research plays an essential part in every step of our design and product development process. As a senior UX researcher, you will provide an unbiased look into qualitative and quantitative data to help guide decisions and next steps. You will design research plans that gather evidence ensuring our product decisions are made with sufficient insight from our customers, mitigate risk, and ultimately guide our design and product decisions to the best solution.

Qualifications

You will:

  • Attend team meetings, design reviews, and other avenues to identify and drive opportunities for us to learn and make better decisions
  • Design, coordinate, and source participants for user research projects
  • Synthesize and present actionable insights to a variety of stakeholders

You have:

  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Have an understanding of strengths and weaknesses of different research methods, including when and how to apply them as well as examples of utilization of these different methods
  • Have excellent survey design and analysis skills
  • Experience with the whole product lifecycle — from early stage to launch and beyond
  • Experience evaluating and testing digital and physical products
