Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.
Right now, thousands of traditional brick and mortar sellers are starting to sell online for the first time. This expansion of e-commerce was a trend before 2020, but it’s been massively accelerated by the current pandemic.
Selling online is a new and challenging world for many sellers. From the foundation of simply having an online store, to setting up a contactless commerce system, to marketing or loyalty, sellers need a new set of tools to help run their business.
We need your help to connect our sellers to the thousands of products being built on Square’s Public API. The App Marketplace team is in a unique position to bring economic empowerment to both sellers and developers, helping both groups grow their businesses through their adoption of the Square Platform. With your help, we want to grow the apps offered in our marketplace and the sellers using those apps by orders of magnitude. As a software engineer on the team, you will own the design, implementation and maintenance of systems which identify the best app for each seller as well as help us to identify the missing apps our sellers need so we can help our developer partners bring them to market.
