Job Description

As an Industry Relations Manager, you will support one of Square's most important assets in delivering meaningful and notable value to our Sellers -- our strategic operations and the industry relationships with payment networks, bank acquirers, card issuers and an ecosystem essential to Square's money movement and new product development. Reporting to the European Head of Industry Relations, you will help adapt and evolve our operations and relationships to reflect Square's increasing role in a complex and imbalanced industry. From commercial relationships and agreements, program management, strategic analytics, and problem solving, your role will be to support Square's Industry Relations & Operations agenda and help Square grow and adapt against the dynamic landscape of the industry in which we operate.

You will support our EU / UK Senior Industry and Operations management team across several key areas including:

  • Work with our payment industry partners and suppliers on scoping and implementation for new features and systems
  • Support key activities, initiatives and priorities as we grow the business
  • Work cross-functionally with our Partnerships, Product, Business, and Finance teams to develop Square's global payments strategy
  • Supporting the wider payments team to operationalize and solidify strategic partnerships and vendor relationships to put in place new products and infrastructure that will future proof Square's business and ensure resiliency
  • Manage challenging situations with partners to successful resolutions while knowing when it is appropriate to escalate a situation
  • Manage our analysis and monitoring tools to ensure that we promote operational excellence in everything that we do
  • Support our external program management efforts to, guide analysis and problem solve with card networks, banks, industry partners to maximize benefits to Square and our customers while driving down inefficiencies and cost


You have: 

  • Bilingual skills with emphasis on European Languages
  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience working within Financial Technology or Payments with high-growth, technology and small businesses
  • Innate curiosity and a desire to be involved in all aspects related to the movement of billions of dollars in a small, highly focused, yet broadly responsible team environment
  • Dexterity and appetite to develop your skill set across roles such as relationship manager, program manager, scheme compliance manager, problem solver, troubleshooter, and analytics manager, interrogating new payment network rules, pricing and billing changes, contract changes, interchange updates and account managers at our bank and network partners
