Job Description

The global Square Marketing team helps businesses learn about Square and engage with our ecosystem of products and services. Square is looking for a strategic and creative content marketer to join our Australian team. This is a multifaceted role with scope to grow. You will oversee the Square editorial and social content - managing the production and writing of all content with an emphasis on SEO. This position will report to the Head of Marketing Australia (based in Melbourne) and the role can be located anywhere on the east coast of Australia, and work from home or our Melbourne office.

You will:

  • Oversee Square's Australian editorial content strategy, including blog and other owned marketing channels

  • Be @SquareAU on social media—Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube

  • Work with the SEO team to identify new opportunities to grow the organic search channel

  • Identify and acquire editorial links to supplement organic search traffic and activation growth

  • Manage content asset development, including authoring content pieces and amplifying reach across all channels

  • Write creative briefs and manage creative development with the paid marketing team and copywriters

  • Work with Brand team on native and partner-based content marketing opportunities (including dedicated educational email blasts, paid amplification and upper-funnel paid social media campaigns)

  • Build impactful webinar, whitepaper and content programmes for distribution across owned channels

  • Partner with our analytics team to create recurring SEO performance reports, provide insights for senior executives and team members, collaborate on quarterly progress reviews and forecasts

  • Develop case studies featuring influential businesses for marketing and sales enablement

  • Expand promotional channels for our content through advertising, publisher networks, syndication, blogger outreach, partner marketing etc

  • Manage Square's social and editorial calendar

  • Own and develop the brand tone of voice for Square Australia and work with the wider team to ensure it's used effectively across all marketing, sales and partnerships channels

  • Grow our community and engage with Square sellers on these channels

  • Report analytics, helping drive quarterly goals and grow channel benchmarks


You have: 

  • Experience in social media, editorial and strategic content marketing, content marketing, or marketing programs

  • A love of writing and detailed content production, down to the last character, image crop, and line break

  • Experience with content management and analytics platforms

  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices, search engine algorithms and ranking strategies and passion to stay up-to-date with news and trends in SEO and online marketing

  • Experience working with creatives, analysts and product managers

Even Better:

  • Experience working in a global organisation; technology, B2B or e-Commerce

  • Experience managing creative development of photographic and video assets, including on-location experience
