The Logistics Team ensures that Square products are distributed across the world. Our goal is nothing less than excellence in logistics by optimizing flexibility, speed, cost and service. We're looking for a Global Freight & Trade Compliance Lead who will manage freight operations in all Square regions, to include commercial management of carriers, and ownership of inventory transportation across Square facilities and offices worldwide. In this role you will provide leadership in developing Square's trade compliance capabilities, cross border policies and reverse logistics procedures across our key markets. As a key member of our Logistics leadership team you will help set operational strategy as well as manage business operations analysts and program managers. This role will report into our Global Head of Logistics.
You will:
- Manage domestic and international freight operations, including network design, transportation mode selection, cost/service optimization and reverse logistics
- Identify market trends and develop year round strategies to ensure adequate space availability and optimal transit times for ocean and air shipments
- Provide subject matter expertise in trade compliance to support launches of new products in new or existing markets including HTS classification, tax and duty payments, and duty deferral or drawback programs
- Develop freight budget, manage spend to monthly/quarterly forecasts and variance reporting
- Develop annual freight productivity funnel, manage project execution, develop action plans to meet performance objectives
- Provide training and support as required to 3PL partners and logistics teams in shipping procedures and preparation of required export paperwork
- Negotiate optimal rates or services as needed or where established agreements do not exist
Qualifications
You have:
- 7+ years of progressive experience within a global freight and transportation environment, with people management and P&L responsibilities
- Experience in Global Trade Compliance management, including direct experience of developing and implementing freight operational controls and export/import SOPs. (Customs Brokers license preferred)
- Demonstrated success in Supplier Management along with managing outcomes via Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Strong business acumen and an ability to drive solutions using insights from data
- A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related discipline. (MBA and/or consulting experience preferred)
