Project/Program Manager

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

The Square eCommerce team, formed with the acquisition of Weebly in May 2018, is on a mission to make it incredibly easy for anyone to sell online. With more than 40 million users across Weebly, Square Online Store, Square Online Checkout, and our other eCommerce products, we are passionate about helping restaurants, retailers, and sellers of all kinds reach success -- both online and offline.

As a Program Manager - eCommerce Sales Enablement, you will be an important member of our team, driving the organization, planning and delivery of our go to market support projects for the eCommerce product.

The Sales Enablement team takes amazing features and helps the sales and account management organizations sell these products and then implement them for Sellers. The Sales Enablement team works with the Square Sales and Square Account Management teams. Your role will be to oversee standard site activation projects and manage the process, organize complex seller engagements, and manage sites outsourced to third-party agencies.

Your role will also include taking ownership of high priority projects that have an impact on the growth and evolution of the Sales Enablement team and Square Online product. These projects include running projects that strengthen our ability to improve GPV and SAAS revenue growth and overseeing large projects like Spiffs, product launches and country launches.

You will lead both business facing, initiatives- promoting understanding, communication, and execution between partners such as sales, product management, sales enablement, finance and customer success. You have a proven record of success keeping things well structured and will keep the team motivated and upbeat.

 You Will:

  • Manage the delivery of large impact and product plans while simultaneously tracking a set of smaller projects. For example: an important part of your role will be managing projects assigned to our network of Agencies. This can include ensuring that all site launches meet their deadline (5-15 per month) or managing developer projects that are owned by SQ and ensuring they meet QA & GTM dates

  • Guide strategic planning by partnering with design, user research, product, analytics and engineering to develop program plans, dependency identifications and resourcing plan. Partnering with Ecom's Project Management team will be an essential part of your job. Your role will be to ensure agreed upon SQ developer projects are advancing and setting Seller expectations when they are not.

  • Manage meetings such as project kick offs, weekly check-ins, testing, etc… to make communication easy and transparent. You will be asked to manage all of these communication functions remotely.

  • Improve product delivery, execution and processes

  • You will work with your counterparts on the Sales Enablement team to launch complex SO sites for Strategic Sellers.

  • We support large agency program. A subset of these agencies exclusively assist the Sales Enablement team with Strategic seller launches. Your role will be to act as an intermediary between these agencies and Sales Enablement to ensure all deadlines are met

  • Within the organization the "Square Online" product has limited visibility in several internal tools used by Sales and AM. Your role will be to ensure Square Online is added to these tools and manage the launch process

You Have:

  • 3 or more years of program management experience in software/web development organizations, management consulting, or an operational role

  • Work in an 100% remote environment. You have a track record being able to coordinate big projects across distributed teams

  • Proficient at documenting issues in a clear fashion and can gain agreement through comments and discussions within the doc. SQ is a reading culture and thus is an important skill

  • Show influence with executive partners: you can partner with designers, product managers, engineering teams and important partners from different departments

  • An advanced understanding of agile product development methodologies and SaaS / software concepts

  • Ability to make clear recommendations through logic and data analysis

  • Have the tenacity to chase down details that lead to a successful product delivery
