Data Analyst, Lifecycle

  • Full-time
  • Alternate Location: Los Angeles, United States

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

As a Data Analyst supporting the Lifecycle team, you will own measurement projects that directly contribute to Square’s growth, and closely inform investment within key touch points in our customers’ journeys. You will be uniquely positioned at the center of several platform teams’ data, working with embedded product data scientists, business intelligence, and leadership to define cross-platform metrics, build out core reporting, and help teams interpret performance.

In this role, you will leverage skills in data engineering, analytics, visualization, and business intelligence to help Square maintain and develop data-driven evaluation of the customer funnel. Examples include building out reporting for a monthly business review on Lifecycle work, or partnering with the Foundational teams to help define platform ‘adoption’.

You will:

  • Develop tools and reports using our data tech stack to empower self-service data access and augment intelligence.

  • Develop, deploy and maintain ETL jobs collating and synthesizing Lifecycle data.

  • Deeply understand Square’s customer funnel and product discovery experience.

  • Dig into emerging trends, synthesize and communicate findings to high-level stakeholders and executives in verbal, visual, and written formats.

  • Partner with product analytics & data science to refine cross-platform KPIs. Partner with product and engineering leadership to define key performance indicators for platforms without dedicated analytics & data science support.

  • Own metrics for monthly Business Reviews.

Qualifications

You have:

  • 3+ years of analytical experience in business operations, analytics, business intelligence, or consulting

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to build strong relationships and influence across the organization

  • Strong business intuition and ability to understand complex business systems

  • Strong technical skill in SQL, data engineering, and data analysis

  • Strong experience with data visualization in Looker, Tableau, or equivalent business intelligence tool
