iOS Software Engineer, Customer Engagement

  • Full-time

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

Square helps sellers of all sizes grow their business through Square Point of Sale (POS) and our growing ecosystem of add-ons. The Customer Engagement team is charged with building the best products and tools to help sellers build lasting relationships with their customers. Today, we own three add-on products -- Loyalty, Marketing, and Gift Cards -- that are focused on creating positive, lasting customer relationships. Our goal is to help turn first-time visitors into repeat customers, to regulars, to loyal customers, to promoters. These products help sellers build strong relationships, stay top-of-mind and encourage more visits from existing and new customers.

As an iOS engineer, you will have complete ownership over all the surface areas in the POS applications to make these experiences magical -- for sellers, cashiers and buyers alike. You will work with BE, FE and fellow client engineers to develop new features and improve on existing experiences, and in the process, contribute to one of our most recognized products in the world.

Qualifications

You’ll need to…

  • Be proficient in Swift and/or Objective-C for development (we use both).

  • Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking up to user interfaces and whatever’s in between.

  • Build high availability and highly resilient systems which can accept and accurately report payments no matter the network or device conditions.

  • Collaborate with iOS, Android, and Server engineers to ship features.

  • Work closely with product managers and designers to iterate on and define product scope and design.

  • Respond to customer feedback to continuously improve our products.
