Job Description

The Payments team enables Square to move money. From developing infrastructure to working with external partners, we find the best ways to move money across different networks and countries in a way that is cost-effective, available, scalable, secure, and forward-looking. As a Partner Operations Manager on the Payments team, you will dive into the specifications and functionality of the global payments networks and pairing with essential external partners and suppliers, and Square's Product and Engineering teams, to convert best practices into the code for Square's money movement systems. You will help launch new functionality and markets, adapting our money movement systems to changing industry requirements, and monitoring our systems for accuracy and efficiency.


You Will:

  • Use your knowledge of Square's payment stack to turn industry changes and mandates into scoped projects that maximize functionality and compliance while minimizing costs
  • Work with the Payments team to translate product functionality into the best set of payment network primitives
  • Work with our payment industry partners and suppliers on scoping and implementation for new features and systems
  • Design monitoring tools and practices to ensure that the Square and its payments partners are optimized to maximize success while minimizing costs
  • Creatively identify new sources of data that can allow Square to route payments
  • Work with our Product, Platform, Partnerships, and Finance teams to develop Square's global payments strategy

You Have: 

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent, or 6+ years of experience working with card processing or payments
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally between acquiring and network partners to communicate effectively with partners around the world
  • The ability to straddle roles as a product manager, relationship manager, and data analyst, equally willing to review dashboard analysis, and review payment network rules updates to extract important information
  • Experience working with and establishing streamlined processes around business operations and reporting

Even Better: 

  • Experience working with global card brands (such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover) and domestic or international acquirers
  • Detailed knowledge of payments systems and money movement, including debit and credit card networks, ACH, and real-time payments schemes
  • Experience with payment hardware and device certification
