Job Description

As a Release Manager, your goal is to ensure we are releasing high-quality versions of Point of Sale to our sellers. You will own and improve the release process for all Point of Sale verticals, including monitoring the health of each release by tracking bugs and facilitating their resolution. You will work alongside Engineering Managers and Product Managers to advise on the right release strategy for new Point of Sale features.

You will:
  • Oversee Point of Sale release trains on Android, iOS, Square Register, and Square Terminal
  • Manage branches in git source control, review late-breaking changes on release branches, and integrate translations
  • Monitor the health of each release by checking for crashes and filing/resolving bugs
  • Work with QA to ensure the verification of fixed bugs in each release
  • Manage external partnerships with alpha and beta testers
  • Partner with Engineering and Product leads to help coordinate the successful release of new features
  • Develop improvements to the release processes for Point of Sale and its features

Qualifications

You have:
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role at a technology company
  • 3+ years directly interfacing with technical teams such as Engineering or Product
  • Experience using JIRA (or a similar platform) to communicate with other teams
  • Basic familiarity with scripting languages (e.g. Python)
  • Experience with a range of software project management methodologies (Agile, LEAN, etc.)
  • Familiarity with software development and release processes
  • Experience working with mobile apps and platforms (iOS, Android, App Store, Play Store) a bonus
  • Experience with both software and hardware a major bonus
