Job Description

We’re looking for a Localization Content Specialist to join our team in Toronto. As part of the Globalization team, you will work with cross-functional partners across the organization to help bring Square’s ecosystem of products and services to French Canada. This is a role where you will leverage Square’s success in the U.S. and deliver innovative, simple, unique and fully localized experiences to our Canadian sellers. You sweat the smallest details, understand what it takes to develop and execute great localization work and excel in cross-discipline collaboration. Everything you work on will be crafted to help shape the Square message with maximum local relevance, amplifying our brand and products in French Canada.

Please note: This is a 6-month contract working 20 hours per week

You Will:

  • Interpret the global content strategy and contribute with a local perspective, tailoring our approach to the French Canadian market

  • Adapt campaign and evergreen messaging and imagery (from our website, digital content, videos, paid marketing and emails) to deliver assets that resonate with our customers in key verticals 

  • Transcreate assets to support product launches and ongoing campaigns, developing a pipeline for multiple paid and organic channels with digital and static assets

  • Review, edit and update French translations across Square’s ecosystem of products and features

  • Establish a voice and tone for the local market in French Canada that is consistent with our global brand, style guide and glossary.

  • Engage in linguistic validation as the expert in the French Canadian market, upholding a high-quality bar across the asset pipeline

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in creative writing, asset localization and message transcreation

  • Experience with local French market cultural dimensions and linguistic norms

  • Ability to apply local cultural knowledge to create hyper-localized content 

  • Proven experience with global brands in a role that engages with outside agencies to manage and produce locally relevant digital and static content for a variety of channels

  • Outstanding organizational skills: the ability to handle multiple projects interacting with various stakeholders simultaneously

  • Ability to identify requirements and prioritize critical deliverables

  • Experience as an excellent team player in a fast-paced multicultural team

  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Native proficiency in French Canadian

  • Excellent grammar, writing and editorial skills in French Canadian

  • Fluency in English

 

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with writing online (for a blog, brand or website)

  • Experience with paid media marketing in print or online

  • Experience with social media or email marketing campaigns
