Job Description

We are looking for a finance professional to join Square's world-class Risk organisation to help understand and manage credit risk for sellers processing on Square. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of credit and financial analysis. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting reviews of new and existing sellers, assessing credit risk associated with processing activity, and taking appropriate action in line with our risk policies. Reporting into the Head of Risk, you will work alongside peers in an operations environment ensuring that we adhere to internal and seller-facing service-level agreements. You will be curious —gathering insights, identifying areas for improvement, and contributing to key initiatives to push our team forward.

You Will:

  • Perform reviews of high-risk seller accounts and act in line with Square's risk policies
  • Analyse risks associated with different seller business models and card processing patterns
  • Collect and review appropriate documentation necessary to assess and mitigate risk
  • Document decisions and rationale in accordance with our underwriting guidelines
  • Communicate with sellers via phone and email, including investigative-level conversations
  • Work closely with internal partners including Fraud and Compliance, as well as multiple levels of management
  • Help identify process improvements and contribute to key Credit Risk projects and initiatives

Qualifications

You Have:

  • Spoken and written fluency in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of working with or in the Spanish market
  • Associate or Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting desired
  • Previous experience in payments or FinTech
  • 3+ years experience in credit operations, risk, underwriting, finance, or related
  • Experience or demonstrated understanding in financial statement analysis
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Desire to help our team achieve its collective goals and best-serve our customers
  • A team player attitude with a willingness to contribute new ideas, learn from and mentor others
  • Efficient and ability to prioritise
