Job Description

You will:

  • Manage timely and accurate intercompany elimination of Square entities within our financial systems

  • Own the journal entries, analyses and reconciliations in intercompany, elimination and FX revaluation & translation. 

  • Partner with Treasury and own the Intercompany settlement accounting process 

  • Set up new entities and maintain chart of accounts in the ERP system

  • Lead system integration of accounting data and identify related internal controls

  • Manage intercompany processes and assist in projects to improve efficiency of end-to-end processes and reconciliation of intercompany transactions

  • Identify and improve efficiency and effectiveness for reporting and intercompany processes 

  • Collaborate with various business partners as needed to resolve consolidation ledger issues and develop accounting policies and procedures in areas of responsibility

  • Assist with SEC reporting, technical accounting, local compliance or tax teams on reporting inquiries

  • Support statutory, 10-Q and 10-K audit requirements

  • Understand data flow among existing systems and perform reconciliations to ensure data integrity to comply with SOX 404 requirements and system governance

  • Drive initiatives for global process alignment across all Square entities and implement enhancements and improvements

  • Implement processes and document controls to ensure SOX compliant internal control environment

  • Perform other duties and ad hoc requests

Qualifications

You Have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relevant field required

  • 8+ years of progressive, Intercompany accounting and COA maintenance experience in a hyper growth environment

  • Ability to analyse financial statements/schedules and write commentary to explain results/variances

  • Excel skills (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and experience using ERP systems

  • Ability to perform operational and strategic work

  • A process-driven approach, with natural curiosity

  • Passion for Square and desire to help customers

  • Proficiency in accounting research

  • Efficiency and improvement-focused

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with financial and tax audits

  • Experience using Oracle/Hyperion

  • Understanding of global entity structures and multi-country/currency environments

  • Technology industry / large accounting firm experience
